Low styrene emission (LSE)

In composite part manufacturing operations, operators can safely work with styrene-based resins under specific operational conditions and by using the right protective equipment. Meanwhile, composite part manufacturers want to increase production output and grow their business. Therefore, they need to minimize styrene emissions, in order not to exceed exposure limits and be compliant with relevant regulations. Also, their preference is to continue to work under existing operating permits.

 

BROAD PRODUCT RANGE

Aliancys offers a broad range of Low Styrene Emission (LSE) resins under the Palatal® and Synolite™ brands for a variety of processing methods. These resins contain additives that minimize styrene emissions, particularly during the static phase of resin application. In addition, some resins can also have a lower styrene content, further reducing styrene emission at the source.

PROCESSING VERSATILITY

The LSE resins from Aliancys have a track record for more than 20 years of excellent performance in many different end-use markets.  These resins can be processed in a similar way as conventional (non-LSE) resins.

With optimized compositions for secondary bonding, many of the the LSE resins of Aliancys are fulfilling the existing requirements for Marine approvals of Det Norske Veritas and Lloyds of London. Periodically, all LSE resins with Marine approvals are extensively checked on mechanical properties and secondary bonding performance.

Please ask your Aliancys Technical Service representative for support in predicting styrene concentrations in your factory, using our Emission calculation software. They will also be in the best position to recommend a LSE resin or even a styrene-free resin for your process.
